hey! from lauren

it's been 2 months today since my transplant! wahoo! things are going really good. i'm going to the physio gym every weekday and working up a sweat. i am able to do so much more than i was able to at first. we spend every weekday morning at the hospital, getting bloodwork or going to clinic or doing my PFTs/blows (breathing tests) and of course...physio. we have the afternoons off to relax or shop or do whatever...and eat some real food which is awesome. i'm gaining weight, my life long goal. i haven't quite hit 100 yet but i'm close, so close. my stomach aches have gone away and so far i haven't had any serious complications. i do have diabetes now. the prednisone i'm on affects my blood sugar. there is a possibility that it will go away but i might be diabetic forever, but i'm dealing with it, it's just a little extra stuff to do before i eat. it is so great to be able to go out and do stuff. it's been a while since i've been able to have much fun. i've been to a couple movies and done some shopping and i've been able to do stuff when people visit instead of just sitting around. i've even been to church. and my friend kelsey and her mom came up this weekend and i was able to do a lil shopping then we went and watched a movie and ate, talked and laughed. it felt so...normal. it was awesome. oh and if things continue to go well i think i'll be able to come home for christmas!! i'm so excited. i can't wait to see everyone.
i want to thank every for everything that they have done. for the visits, the phone calls, cards, prayers, absolutely everything. i appreciate it so, so much. and i know my family appreciates it so much too. all the support has helped out so much. when i would have a rough day, just thinking about everyone that was behind me made me so thankful, gave me hope, and helped me feel better. i absolutely love where i live and the community that i'm in because everyone has been so thoughtful and i am very grateful for you all.

Hi Lauren,

Great to hear you sounding so positive! YOu worked very hard to be where you are now, so enjoy each well-deserved breath! We are really praying that Donovan gets back to that point. His lung function is still awesome, but the drugs to fight the fungus are wacking him out, and he's losing some of those hard-earned pounds! Darn!!
But there is talk of him becoming an outpatient soon, even though his IV treatment will be over 4 hrs! But no more hospital food....Yay!

Anyway, we hope and pray you continue in this direction, and have a wonderful New Year! I miss seeing you and your mom, but am glad to know you're home. Say hi to her for me....

Love,
Beth
